The Hills District is where R&Q Interiors has built most. Three of the homes in our portfolio are in Castle Hill alone — a contemporary kitchen rebuild, an indoor-outdoor kitchen opened to the garden, and a full whole-home renovation that took a dated brick house back to the frame and reworked every room.
Most of what we are called into here is the same generation of house: solid brick family homes on generous blocks, built well but planned for how people lived thirty years ago. Closed-off kitchens, small windows to the back yard, a paved patio nobody uses, bathrooms that have never been touched.

R&Q Interiors completed a full renovation of a dated brick home in Castle Hill, reworked room by room. The closed-in kitchen and living areas were opened up and refinished with marble-look stone, new white joinery and timber floors throughout, the bathrooms rebuilt, and the old paved patio replaced with a roofed alfresco that runs the length of the house beside the pool.

On the Carmel project in Castle Hill, R&Q Interiors opened up and refinished the old kitchen and living areas, rebuilt the bathrooms, and replaced the paved patio beside the pool with a roofed alfresco running the length of the house. Extensions in The Hills District
The Hills house is built for an extension.
Much of the Hills District is single-storey brick homes on generous blocks — exactly the combination extensions were made for. The block has room for a rear or ground-floor extension without crowding the yard, and the solid construction of that generation of house is often capable of carrying a second storey once an engineer has checked the footings and load paths.
R&Q Interiors builds ground-floor and rear extensions, second-storey additions and structural alterations, and extensions and alterations are our specialty — the work where new structure has to join an existing house and read as if it was always there.
On approvals, Hills projects follow the same two pathways as the rest of Sydney: a CDC through a private certifier when the design meets the NSW Codes SEPP criteria — larger blocks make the setback and landscaped-area tests easier to satisfy — or a DA through The Hills Shire Council when it does not. We confirm which applies at the first site consult, before you spend money on design.
