# R&Q Interiors > R&Q Interiors is a family-run, licensed Sydney residential builder (NSW Builder Licence 378767C), building since July 2017. Renovations and extensions/alterations are the specialty; the company also builds knockdown-rebuilds and new homes, takes on single rooms (bathrooms, kitchens, laundries), builds decks and pergolas, and does structural and waterproof remediation, across all Sydney metro areas. ## Who we are R&Q Interiors is family-run — a father and son who came into building from different directions and started the company together in 2017. The father brings over twenty years of commercial fit-out and refurbishment work, much of it subcontracting to large construction companies. The son is a trade-qualified residential carpenter who worked up from apprentice to project manager under an award-winning Sydney builder. The company runs its own crew and works from a subcontractor network built over years. ## Specialty Renovations, alterations and extensions — the work where the difficulty is in the join between what is there and what is new. A new home on a clear site is a known quantity; a renovation or extension is not, because you build around an existing structure, existing services and often a family still living there, and some of what you are dealing with only reveals itself once a wall is open. Everything else is quoted per project after a site consult. - From $19,800 — bathroom, build only: full strip-out and rebuild, waterproofing to AS 3740, screeding, tiling, all trades and rubbish removal. Excludes fittings and tapware. - $25,000 — bathroom entry package: the same build with fittings included (vanity, toilet, shower set, tapware and tiles from a selected range). - $50,000+ — bathroom premium package: custom joinery, stone benchtops, full-height feature tiling, freestanding bath, integrated lighting, heated floors. - What moves the price: relocating the toilet or shower, cutting a slab, upper-floor access, structural changes, and tile format. ## Warranty and insurance Every residential project over $20,000 (including GST) is covered by insurance under the NSW Home Building Compensation Fund, taken out before work starts and before any money — including the deposit — is accepted. That cover protects the homeowner: it compensates for incomplete or defective work if the builder dies, disappears, becomes insolvent, or has their licence suspended for failing to comply with a money order.
